DESCRIPTION: Position Scope: This position is primarily responsible for the set-up and operation of the various buffing, grinding, and polishing operations to assure efficiency, quality, and safety for the timely manufacturing of product to customer specifications. Position Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Have the ability to take direction. 2. Works with the Polishing Supervisor in establishing and maintaining a polishing center for the fabrication department. 3. Follows the written procedures for the operation of the machines. 4. Responsible for the operation of buffing, grinding, and polishing stations to achieve the finish specified on blueprints or engineering drawings. Utilizes the various types and sizes of polishing tools to achieve the finish specified for the metal stock and the shape of the part. 5. Has all work at each step of production inspected to assure compliance with company’s Quality Standards and Procedures. 6. Keeps Supervisor informed of any quality variances. 7. Assists in training of team members. 8. Other Duties a. Cleans and organizes department’s workstations. b. Completes tasks delegated by Supervisor. c. Asks questions/seeks advise from Supervisor when in doubt. 9. Follows procedures in company handbook and other documents. 10. Displays a sense of urgency towards completing assigned tasks. 11.
